Please No Snakes.

I’ve nicknamed the farthest wooded edge of my new backyard “The Wilds,” where I’ve spent a bit too much time this summer wrangling weeds. Don’t let the pretty ferns fool you - that thick undergrowth conceals creeping and creepy wildlife.  I encountered a snake soon after I moved in and for a solid few days considered moving right back out.

So now every gardening trek to The Wilds includes the prayer: “please, no snakes.”

{and when I say “prayer” what I mean is a frantic mantra: pleasenosnakes pleasenosnakes pleasenosnakes}

It made me think of desperately repeated prayers, big and small.  And I wondered if you have any?  How do you feel when they do or don’t get answered?  What’s it like to wait and hope and want?

Flourish mentoring and spiritual direction** sessions create guided space for you to process your prayers, naming your longing for change and finding your way in the waiting.

What’s your prayer today?

~here’s to your flourishing~
